Homemade Puree vs. Canned Products
If pumpkins are in season, there is absolutely no reason to go for canned products.
Not only does fresh pumpkin puree taste better, but it also happens to be healthier and free of any additives or preservatives.
You can also tinker with the recipe and add a unique flavor to the mix.
For instance, you can experiment with nutmeg, ginger, cloves or cinnamon, etc.
I found that having a neutral-tasting puree was best for my purposes since I wanted to incorporate it into both sweet and salty recipes.
But if you are using it for a specific recipe go ahead and add your spices directly to the puree.
